Presenter:  Carolyn “Leilani” Arwood Bio: She hales from So. Cal where she started dancing at an early age and has done so continually for 53 years of which 41 sheʻs been performing professionally and teaching. Amoung her favorite dance genres Polynesian ( hula, Tahitian & Maori) has always been dear to her heart. Her passion, dedication & desire to honor this love takes her to Hawaiʻi each year to study in an intensily traditional hula program with kumu hula that she is grateful to study under. While there she also engages in learning costume making and traditional crafts. Her love and desire to grow plumeria came from wanting to grow enough flowers to adorn herself and her students ( of Aloha Luaus) with fresh flowers for performances.Wanting to learn from the best she learned from the ʻohana of Aunty Bellaʻs lei stand in Hawaiʻi which is the 1st ( 1928) and longest running lei stand located in Waikiki. She takes great joy in keeping these traditions alive thru sharing what she has and continures to learn.
